We've just talked to Dan Navarro, and he has arranged for Todd Lorenz to open for him on September 13th. Since that means we'll be starting the show a little earlier to accomodate the extra music, you should plan on getting here when the doors open so you can enjoy the food and some more great music! Here's a little background on Todd, and if you want to learn more, just check out his website.

Todd Lorenz is an accomplished singer/songwriter who was the only solo act to make the finals of the Arizona Blues Showdown in 2000 and was a Song of the Year Suggested Artist in 12/2008.  He has jammed with Guy Davis, shared a stage with John Statz, opened for Fruteland Jackson and opened for/performed with Dan Navarro.  He plays acoustic Americana music made up of a mish mash of blues, folk, rock and a bit of country, and has played venues in WI, IL, IA, WY, CA, AZ, NE and KS.  Born in Orange, Todd spent most of his early life in southern California, including graduating from Musician’s Institute in 1989.  He then relocated to San Diego, CA where he fronted a few bands and began playing solo acoustic music with a small degree of success.

After some encouragementment, i.e. arm twisting, from a number of our friends, we have decided to go ahead and host a party on August 14th to celebrate summer (and our anniversary.) For entertainment, we have arranged to have Scott Polito perform and we are looking forward to a great show. We hope that everyone can make it out to enjoy the show with us!

Scott Polito is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist (plus other instrumentals) who plays a mix of songs from acoustic artists including Dave Matthews, Jackson Brown, James Taylor, Dispatch, Phish, and others, plus he has a repertoire of his own original songs. He is an outstanding acoustic guitarist who plays at many coffee shop and party venues. Scott's dad, Mick Polito, is also planning on sitting in for a set by providing vocals and guitar for additional songs by John Prine, Michael Johnson, Bruce Springsteen, Old Crow and the Medicine Show (plus his own original songs as well.)

Given the late date on this, we have decided not to require reservations, but we do ask everyone to let us know if you are attending by responding to this email so we can get a count. We will have some costs associated with the show so we are asking everyone to bring a few dollars to donate to the "House Concert" fund.

As far as the show goes ...

A couple of things ...

First, we're working on getting set up with a subscription based mailing list so it will be easier for us to manage the House Concerts we host ... hopefully we will be getting an email out soon with all the details

We've been asked to host Dan Navarro on September 13th so hold that date.  We hope that everyone that enjoyed one (or both) of the two previous Lowen & Navarro shows will be able to come out and see Dan for a solo performance.  We're still working on details but since the 13th is a Sunday, we'll be looking at a late afternoon and early evening picnic/party and show.

And, for all of the Blues fans who were here for Tab Benoit the last two years, we're still looking at things to see if something will work out for us this summer ... so stay tuned

Dave & Ellen
