Dan Navarro
at the Youngers
September 13th, 2009

A private party and house concert with Recording Artist Dan Navarro is being held at our house on Sunday, September 13th, 2009.

Imbued early in life with a love of music, art, drama, comedy and incisive writing, Dan Navarro has spent tVzLmNvbYADAIgDAZAhe past 30 years of his life working and playing as a singer, songwriter, recording and touring artist, voice actor and media activist.

For twenty years, Dan Navarro has written, recorded and toured as part of the folk rock duo of Lowen and Navarro. Their ten CDs showcase self-penned songs of experience, colored by supple acoustic-based arrangements centered around their intertwined voices. Their early success as songwriters became the impetus for forming Lowen & Navarro when they realized they wanted to sing their songs themselves. They toured together for 20 years, playing to an ever growing group of rabid fans.  A few years ago Eric Lowen was diagnosed with ALS and had to cut his touring schedule to an occasional outing, but Dan is determined to keep their music alive. With considerable courage, he is setting out on the road, for the first time in many years, as a solo performer.

Individually, Dan has flourished in other parts of the entertainment industry since 1988. He has had great success as a session singer and voice actor in English and Spanish, and his resume includes the recent #1 films "Happy Feet" and "Ice Age 2: The Meltdown", "Robots" and "Man On Fire"; television shows "Studio 60", "Family Guy", "American Dad", "Deal Or No Deal", "Roswell", "Felicity" and "American Family". Guest appearances on albums by Neil Young, Luis Miguel, Susanna Hoffs, Jose Feliciano, Julio Iglesias and Jon Anderson of Yes, and commercials for Toyota, McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Coors, Folgers, Dodge, Nationwide Insurance, Shakey's Pizza are among the diverse credits on Dan's resume.

With his longtime partner Eric Lowen and other collaborators, he has composed songs for artists as diverse as Pat Benatar (1984's Top Five "We Belong"), The Bangles, Dionne Warwick, Dave Edmunds, The Triplets, the Temptations and Dutch superstar Marco Borsato.

The connections between singer and song, between audience and stage melt into a rich brew that brings them deeper into the heart of the matter and that much closer to the fire in the hearts of the people.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to part of something special at our house this September.

If you're planning to attend, here's how we do this ...

First, please remember that we host house concerts to provide our friends (and their friends) an opportunity to come out and enjoy a good show in a comfortable and personal setting. We do this for fun and do not make money on these shows, so we rely on the generosity of our guests to help cover the cost of bringing in the artists and putting on the shows.

Second, while we always limit attendance to insure that everyone has a chance to be close to the performers, and protected from the elements in case of rain, please feel free to invite as many friends as you wish! Once we reach capacity we will start a waiting list just in case someone cancels so we can fill the available space with those waiting to get in. If you don't want to be left hanging, reserve your spot now! We hold all of our shows rain or shine so we generally do not give refunds unless there are extenuating cirmcumstances (or we have a waiting list and can fill your spot.)

We are changing things this year as we will be handling reservations on our website and not by email. If you plan on attending, create an account by registering on our site and then go to the House Concerts section where you can add the reservation to your cart. Set the quantity to number of people in your group and then checkout. On checkout, you can select to mail us a check or use a credit card through PayPal (it does not require that you have an account.) There is a comment box at checkout so it would be helpful if you listed the names of the people in your group to make checking in at the party easieow you pay, your reservation will be confirmed after we receive your money and at that point, all you have to do is show up for the party.

As far as the show goes ...

We want everyone to have time to relax and visit before and after the concert we ask that everyone bring "finger food" to share and their own beverage to drink. We plan on having either the grills and/or the fryers going for hot appetizers to feast on, weather permitting, so if everyone brings a just little food, there should provide plenty to eat. We will also set up a wine tasting table and will be sharing some of the “Camp Dave Winery” vintages so if you'd interested, bring your own favorite bottle to share!
